![]() The newly created Aggregate Device can then be selected in Cubase/Nuendo under Studio ▸ Studio Setup ▸ VST Audio System ▸ ASIO Driver. As we say in Hawaii 'try chance um'.If can, can. If no can,no can.Stoked. Blast of air into headphones jack and then inserted headphone plug vigorisly (sic) and plugged and unpluged couple times. Until we come up with a permanent solution, we suggest to create an aggregate device in the Audio MIDI setup (Applications - Utilities). Read from my new best friend the following low tech cure. Among other things, it provides an independent built-in speaker and headphone output selection as a feature, which cannot be used correctly by our ASIO hosts at the moment. ![]() Built-in audio functions are handled by a new component, so that the built-in audio hardware is now 'looking different' to audio apps running on the system. The latest Mac models (from 2018) contain a built-in audio sub-system that is different from prior Intel HDA (High Definition Audio) architecture in Macs. In the host, "two" "Built-in audio" options are available instead of the previous one. Same way my cats can't get into my home office where my audio system is or else I come home to destroyed cables and fur that fell through the amp vent as they sleep on the amp that I switched on and allow to warm up while I do something else. You could just lock the kids out of the room where the system is or put the system the system in a room that you can lock. Chances are you'll hear it there, but not from your chair (and this kind of noise doesn't ramp up proportionally with the volume level), but once that speaker amp is driving a headphone with not high enough impedance that is now right next to your ears, that can be audible. This is because speaker amps actually have a high noise floor compared to headphone amps - you can test this by standing right next to your speakers with the setting at your usual level but no music playing. Which limits your choice of amps and headphones to something like a First Watt 15w amp and an AKG K10000, Jecklin Float, some planars, etc. You can also go to System Preferences > Sound and choose Soundflower as the output device. One way to use the DAC's preamp output with an amp: use a very low noise, Class A speaker power amp that doesn't have a preamp circuit to drive low sensitivity headphones. Click the speaker icon in the menubar and select Soundflower. Very likely higher noise but if you're already hooking up the HPamp to the DAC's variable preamp output you're still running two active preamp circuits and regardless of how you set it you're mitigating noise either by setting the DAC preamp to 2V (good luck finding where that is on the amp's dial) or trying to set the HPamp to a level where you don't have channel imbalance from either while also not adding easily audible noise. ![]()
